North India simmers, no respite in heat wave

The whole of north India is reeling under intense heat wave. Many cities have registered highest temperatures in the recent times.

Delhi residents suffered under a searing sun on Sunday as the mercury in some parts of the national capital touched 47 degrees Celsius, with the average maximum shooting up to 44.6 degrees -- four notches above the normal.

Most of the juice centres and roadsides fruit vendors are seeing an upsurge in the sales owing to the soaring temperature.

In Uttar Pradesh, temperature touched 48 degrees Celsius in the state capital Lucknow. The extreme weather is likely to continue for few more days said the weather department.

Banda remained the hottest at 48 degrees Celsius while Mahoba was the second hottest on Sunday with the mercury touching 47 degrees Celsius.
