Did Vijay's son Jason Sanjay unfollow him after poll win? Truth behind claim
Thalapathy Vijay's son Jason Sanjay came under scrutiny after social media users said he did not follow his father on Instagram. The claim spread alongside Vijay's electoral win in Tamil Nadu.

Actor Thalapathy Vijay remains in the spotlight after his strong performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, but a new discussion has shifted attention to his personal life. Social media users are now debating whether his son, Jason Sanjay, unfollowed him on Instagram, after screenshots of Jason’s account were widely shared online.
Jason’s Instagram account currently shows that he follows 38 people, while Vijay does not follow anyone on the platform. But online accounts differ on the key claim. Some users said Jason unfollowed Vijay recently, while others said he had never followed him in the first place.

What triggered the discussion
The issue earlier drew wider notice after Sangeetha’s divorce petition surfaced on social media on February 27. In the petition, filed in the Chengalpattu District Court, she sought to end her 27-year marriage to Vijay. She cited infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect and desertion as the reasons for seeking divorce.
Soon after news of the petition emerged, fans began circulating screenshots of Jason’s Instagram account. Several posts pointed out that he was following actor Vijay Sethupathi and other accounts, but not his father.
At the same time, many others said the claim that Jason had unfollowed Vijay was not accurate. According to these users, Jason had not been following Vijay or his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), earlier either. Even so, the rumour spread widely after Vijay's electoral win in Tamil Nadu.
What the divorce petition says
The petition carried a series of allegations from Sangeetha. She accused Vijay of having an extramarital relationship with an actress and described her experience in the marriage as "persistent mental cruelty, neglect and desertion". She also asked for the entire court proceeding to be conducted on camera, saying the family should be protected from additional stress.
According to the petition, the marriage had broken down "irretrievably" and public discussion could lead to "further humiliation and mental agony". Sangeetha further claimed that Vijay had been "emotionally withdrawn" since 2021 and had treated her with "verbal disdain".
She also alleged that he subjected her to "constructive desertion, forcing her to live separately within the matrimonial home", while maintaining an "open association" with the actress. The petition said their children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, had faced "embarrassment" among friends because of the situation. It also stated that notices and correspondence were exchanged between August 2024 and February 2025 in an attempt to resolve their issues.
Where the matter stands
Vijay and Sangeetha married in the United Kingdom in 1998 and had a second ceremony in India in 1999. Meanwhile, actor Trisha Krishnan has dawn attention for her association with the actor. Notably, Vijay recorded the electoral victory on her birthday.
Amid the online discussion over his Instagram activity, Jason is also working on his debut directorial project, Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan.
