Chiranjeevi, Suriya congratulate Vijay as TVK nears victory in Tamil Nadu

Actor-turned-politician Vijay drew congratulatory messages from several film personalities after counting trends in Tamil Nadu showed his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), ahead in around 108 seats and recording the highest vote share in its debut election.

As the counting trends came in, social media filled with messages for Vijay, with actors and filmmakers from across the southern film industry responding to TVK’s strong showing.

Reactions from the film industry

Superstar Rajinikanth congratulated Vijay and his party members over their victory in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. His X post read, "My congratulations to Thiru Vijay, President of the victorious Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and to the members of his party, on their resounding victory in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections.

Chiranjeevi congratulated Vijay by saying, "Dear @actorvijay, Hearty congratulations on this outstanding and well-deserved victory in your first election. May you continue to inspire, lead, and serve with unwavering passion and purpose. My best wishes to you for your public service to the state of Tamil Nadu and its people (sic)."

Mahesh Babu posted, "Hearty congratulations @actorvijay on setting new benchmarks and achieving a stunning victory!!! Today reflects the faith people have placed in you in large measure I’m certain this victory will translate into meaningful progress for Tamil Nadu (sic)."

Jana Nayagan producer Venkat K Narayana also congratulated Vijay through the X handle of KVN Productions. The message read, "Heartiest congratulations to our ‘Jana Nayagan’, Thalapathy Vijay sir, on scripting history today against all odds. It is indeed a revolution and one that will echo for generations to come. - Venkat K Narayana (KVN) (sic)."

Actor Dhanush, while congratulating Vijay and his party on his X post, wrote, "My heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Vijay sir and the Tamil Nadu Victory Kazhagam, who, having come to the field and contested in their very first election, have earned the immense support and love of the people of Tamil Nadu and are set to form the government (sic)."

Actor Ram Charan, while congratulating Vijay on his X handle, wrote, "Hearty congratulations to @actorvijay Garu on a remarkable victory in the TN elections. Your vision and connect with the people have truly resonated. Wishing you great success in leading Tamil Nadu towards continued progress. @TVKVijayHQ (sic)."

Actor Rashmika Mandanna congratulated Vijay on his election victory in her X post. She wrote, "Congratulationssssss

Actor Karthi also sent best wishes to Vijay on his election victory. His X post read, "Hearty congratulations, Vijay sir! A truly historic victory, powered by the immense love and belief people have in you. Praying to the Almighty to be by your side in fulfilling your vision for our people (sic)."

Musician-composer AR Rahman also congratulated Vijay on his X post. He wrote, "Heartfelt congratulations to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam! To our dear Mr. Vijay, Wishing you to rise and flourish as an exemplary leader who will take Tamil Nadu to the forefront, championing corruption-free politics, social justice, and equality. With a political culture that rejects divisions and celebrates Tamil and Tamils, may your endeavor to transform Chennai into a city brimming with art and prosperity shine brightly! AR Rahman (sic)."

Actor Suriya Sivakumar wrote on X, "Receiving the love and support of the people is a blessing. Tamil Nadu has great faith in my friend Vijay. My heartfelt congratulations to him as he is about to begin a new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics (sic)."

Other celebrities also shared messages as TVK’s early lead widened. Nani wrote, "Congratulations @actorvijay sir. First doubted and then crowned. Happened at our home, and now it’s happening in our neighbouring home. Underdog winning is always absolute cinema ( or should I say absolute politics ?) :) Hope great things follow for the people of Tamil Nadu who have made their decision clear."

Kajal Aggarwal, Chiyaan Vikram, Sibi Sathyaraj and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar were also among those who congratulated Vijay.

Trends in Tamil Nadu

The early trends showed TVK ahead of its rivals, while the DMK-led alliance was leading in just over 75 seats and the AIADMK bloc was ahead in 51.

With TVK crossing the 100-seat mark in the trends and moving close to a majority in its first election, congratulatory messages from the film industry continued to pour in for Vijay through the day.
