Maharashtra worst-hit with over 3 lakh coronavirus case, Mumbai remains worst-hit city

India has recorded over 40,000 cases in 24 hours for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began. Maharashtra remains the worst hit state with over 3 lakh cases while Mumbai is the worst hit city. The country registered its biggest single-day spike of 40,425 cases and 681 deaths in the past 24 hours, which indicates that cases are spreading rapidly in India. On the brighter side, the number of people who have recovered from the deadly infection has crossed 7 lakh. India currently has 3,90,459 active cases and 27,497 people have died after testing positive.
