Sri Lanka economic crisis: Army denies firing on protesters

The Sri Lankan Army on Sunday released a statement saying that they did not open fire on protesters on July 9. The statement said, "The Army categorically denies having opened fire towards the protesters, but fired a few rounds to the air and the sidewalls of the main gate entrance to the President's House compound as a deterrent aimed at preventing the entry of the protesters into the compound."
