If Bengal wanted BJP, then Bengal has got BJP: Mahua Moitra
Mahua Moitra responded to the BJP's sweep in Bengal, saying her party fought against unimaginable odds on an uneven pitch. She also acknowledged the will of the people, framing her reaction around both the contest and the verdict.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday broke her silence on the BJP’s dramatic sweep across Bengal, saying the party had fought well against “unimaginable odds on an uneven pitch,” while acknowledging the “will of the people.”
Moitra, who had been vocal in the early hours of counting day -- alleging large-scale EVM tampering and load-shedding in strongrooms -- went unusually quiet as the numbers began to trickle in.
In fact, her last post was at 8:44 am on X, where she shared pictures from a Trinamool Congress tent in Tehatta, part of her Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency, which the TMC lost to the BJP.
Finally, breaking more than a day of silence on social media, she posted on X: “The will of the people is supreme. If Bengal wanted the BJP, then Bengal has got the BJP. We respect that. We fought a good fight against unimaginable odds on an uneven pitch, and for that I am proud of my leader and my party."
She ended her message by saying the TMC will continue to stand and fight for a secular country where the Constitution -- not “brute majoritarianism” -- is the last word. “We will continue to stand and fight for a secular country where the Constitution, not brute majoritarianism, is the last word. Jai Hind.”
In fact, Moitra’s Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a complete upheaval, with several Assembly segments going to the BJP, including Krishnanagar Uttar and Krishnanagar Dakshin, where BJP candidates Tarak Nath Chatterjee and Sadhan Ghosh registered comfortable wins, respectively.
The BJP on Monday scripted history by winning 206 seats to secure more than a two-thirds majority in the West Bengal Assembly polls, ending the TMC’s 15-year rule and breaching the incumbent party’s impregnable forts in the Presidency region, comprising Kolkata and surrounding districts.
The final blow came when both Mamata Banerjee’s Bhabanipur and Abhishek Banerjee’s Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency were swept by the saffron wave.
