Perambur Assembly Election Results 2026 Highlights: DMK's RD Shekhar, TVK's Joseph Vijay and 45 candidates were contesting from Perambur in Tamil Nadu's Assembly Election 2026. TVK won Perambur seat with a margin of 38k votes, thereby making a mark in Tamil Nadu politics. By beating the two Dravidian parties, DMK and AIADMK, Vijay has scripted history.

Early counting trends in Tamil Nadu showed the AIADMK, Vijay's TVK and the DMK locked in a close contest. The numbers hinted at TVK's emergence as a major player as the mood at the DMK headquarters turned grim.

TVK chief Vijay's election affidavits show he declared assets of Rs 115 crore in Perambur and Rs 220 crore in Tiruchirappalli East, revealing a discrepancy of about Rs 105 crore between the two filings.

While criminal disclosures were updated, Vijay’s financial details remain largely unchanged, with movable assets rising to Rs 410.59 crore from Rs 404.58 crore, including gold jewellery worth Rs 1.20 crore and silver articles valued at Rs 15 lakh.”

Discrepancies emerge in Vijay's poll affidavits, with conflicting disclosures on pending cases between Perambur and Tiruchy East filings, and omission of a 2025 Peravallur police case raising compliance concerns.

With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaching, Vijay is positioning his TVK as the principal challenger to Chief Minister MK Stalin-led DMK by trying to edge out the AIADMK from the electoral narrative. And Chennai is central to this plan for entire Tamil Nadu.

TVK alleged that MK Stalin deliberately withheld police deployment at Vijay’s Kolathur rally to trigger a Karur-like stampede and obstruct its campaign.
