Ramayana Part 2 shoot begins as VFX-heavy work on Part 1 moves full steam ahead
The makers of Ramayana have quietly begun shooting Part 2 even as VFX-heavy post-production on Part 1 gathers pace. With indoor shoots and global-scale planning underway, the ambitious epic is moving faster than expected.

The makers of Ramayana have begun shooting for Part 2 of the film. India Today has learnt that the team has been filming indoors for some time now, indicating that work on the ambitious franchise is steadily progressing.
This development comes shortly after the team unveiled the first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama on Thursday, marking the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
A source close to the production revealed that post-production on Ramayana: Part 1 is currently underway, with a significant focus on VFX work. Simultaneously, the team has already commenced shooting for Part 2. Given the film’s heavy reliance on visual effects, much of the current schedule is being executed indoors, allowing for controlled environments and greater precision in crafting the visual elements.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film’s world-building leans heavily on VFX created by the eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG in collaboration with Monster Mind Creations. The project promises a fresh cinematic interpretation of the ancient epic by sage Valmiki.
The film also stars Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana, among others.
Ramayana will release in two parts, with Part 1 slated for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 expected in 2027.
