Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri led a sharp critique against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi following a heated exchange at the Parliament complex. The controversy erupted when Gandhi allegedly used the word 'traitor' toward Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. Puri stated, 'To label anyone from any community with the characterisation of being a traitor is unacceptable, but all the more so when that person comes from a family which is itself paid a price.' He highlighted Bittu’s lineage as the grandson of former Punjab CM Beant Singh, who was assassinated. BJP leaders Arvinder Singh Lovely and Manjinder Singh Sirsa joined the briefing, accusing the Congress of a history of 'anti-Sikh' sentiments, citing the 1984 desecration of the Golden Temple and the treatment of former PM Manmohan Singh. The leaders argued that such language undermines parliamentary dignity and disrespects the sacrifices made by the Sikh community for the nation's integrity.
