LPG shortage ground report: Old Delhi restaurants struggle to stay open

Delhi’s famous street food spots are feeling the heat as a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders disrupts kitchens across Old Delhi. From dropping slow-cooked dishes like dal makhani to slashing deep-fried items like paneer pakora and kachori from menus, many eateries are limiting menus and closing early. Some owners say cylinders that once cost ₹1,700 are now selling for as high as ₹4,000, while others are scrambling for alternatives like induction stoves as demand surges across the city.
