UPSC rank mix-up: Bulandshahr woman admits AIR 113 claim was a mistake



Shikha Gautam from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, claimed she had secured AIR 113 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 after results were declared on March 6, 2026, sparking celebrations in her village. Verification later revealed she had not cleared the UPSC Mains or reached the interview stage. The AIR 113 rank actually belonged to another candidate named Shikha from Rohtak, Haryana, who is currently serving as a Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO). Shikha Rani later admitted the confusion occurred because she checked only the name in the result list and not the roll number.
