Shubman Gill was fined 15 percent of his match for criticising a controversial catch by Cameron Green which resulted in his dismissal in the second innings of the World Test Championship final at The Oval. Meanwhile, India were docked their entire match fee while Australia lost 80 percent of theirs as slow over-rate penalties in the final, which India lost by 209 runs.
Shubman Gill had posted sarcastic messages on Instagram and Twitter with zoomed-in stills of the Green catch. The ball seemed to have touched the grass but the third umpire had ruled in favour of Australia. After the match, Rohit Sharma also questioned the decision and wondered why the third umpire did not look at more camera angles before making a decision.
