Salaam Cricket 2018: Sunil Gavaskar reveals why he kept a moustache

The first edition of Asia Cup in 1984 was played in Sharjah, UAE and one thing that was unique about the event was that Sunil Gavaskar sported a moustache during the tournament.

Speaking to India Today's Vikrant Gupta during Salaam Cricket 2018 on Monday, Gavaskar revealed the reason behind sporting a moustache.

The former Indian opener said he decided to keep a moustache to get extra five minutes sleep in the morning.

"Matches used to start very early - I liked my sleep like most of us and I wanted to sleep five extra minutes. I I didn't have to shave my moustache then I can sleep extra five minutes," said Gavaskar.
