Watch | Lok Sabha passes Citizenship Amendment Bill

The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 after a 12-hour debate. While 311 MPs voted in favour of the bill, 80 voted against it.

While proposing the bill, Home Minister Amit Shah had assured: "The bill has nothing to do with Indian Muslims. The bill only intends to provide protection to the persecuted minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh."
