Don't lose hope, we'll win after sunset: Mamata Banerjee's message to TMC workers

Bengal has swung to the BJP's side but Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is not going away yet. In a video message to her party leaders, she asked them to not lose hope or become depressed because counting is still in the early rounds. She also appealed to all TMC candidates and agents to not leave the counting centres. "I appeal to everyone that neither TMC candidates nor counting agents should abandon counting centres...We are still ahead in 170 seats, but I request everyone not to lose hope," she said in the video.
According to the latest numbers, the BJP is inching closer to the 200-seat mark, with the TMC at 93. The saffron party is not only leading in North Bengal, as expected, it has also made crucial inroads in several TMC strongholds, including key urban regions in Kolkata and Howrah.
But Banerjee claimed that her party is leading in 170 seats, saying that the data of nearly 70 to 100 seats where the TMC is leading, are not being shared. "A false narrative is being spread," she alleged, accusing the Election Commission and the BJP of plotting against her side.
She also alleged irregularities in the counting process at some locations. "In several places, counting has been stopped after the first two to three rounds. In Kalyani, we have caught seven machines with severe anomalies," Banerjee claimed in the video.
The Chief Minister alleged that TMC workers were being harassed with the help of central forces in many regions and that their party offices were being forcibly captured and vandalised. She claimed that these were "purposefully done to target seats where we were strong".
Reassuring party workers, Banerjee said that several rounds of counting remain. "Don't be so upset, I had said that after the sun sets, we'll win...Wait and see, watch. We're all with you, don't be afraid. Fight like tigers," she said in the video.
