Kunnamkulam Assembly Constituency is located in the Thrissur district of Kerala and is the 62nd of 140 constituencies in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. It is a general (unreserved) seat and is part of the Alathur Lok Sabha constituency for the Parliamentary election.

It includes Kunnamkulam Municipality and Chowannur, Erumapetty, Kadangode, Kadavallur, Kattakampal, Porkulam and Velur Panchayats in Thalappilly Taluk. A. C. Moideen (Communist Party of India [Marxist] – CPI(M), LDF) won the seat with 75,532 votes or about 48.78% of valid votes. K. Jayasankar (Indian National Congress, INC, UDF) was his closest opponent with  48,901 votes. K. K. Aneeshkumar from BJP, NDA secured 27,833 votes  and 1,241 votes were cast for V. S. Aboobacker of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).  A. C. Moideen won by a margin of 26,631 votes, demonstrating the CPI(M) candidate's resounding victory in a crowded field.

Kunnamkulam's local economy combines small businesses, services, agriculture, and commercial trade. With a long history of market trading and small enterprises that cater to both urban and rural customers, Kunnamkulam is a significant commercial hub.
